From 30/06/08 all houses advertised for sale will require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). These rate the energy efficiency of a property on a scale of A-G and suggest areas where energy and money can be saved. These can be obtained from a qualified accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) who does a survey of the property.

It is the responsibility of the seller to obtain an EPC at the outset of the selling process.

It is also one of the legal documents that is required for completion after a sale has been agreed.
